(NYC) January 29th, 2009: There is a man in Ozone Park who, for the last 3 years, put all his earnings under his mattress. In doing so, his portfolio has outperformed the Dow, NASDAQ and the S&P 500. Sure times are tough, but it only hurts if you don’t laugh!
Here with a healthy dose of humor is Chicago City Limits, New York’s longest running comedy revue, and its winter show, MANIC DEPRESSION. MANIC DEPRESSION provides shelter from the economic storm that rages around us with satiric sketch comedy and audience-inspired improvisations.
Today it seems like everyone is looking at new ways to turn a buck. Bankers are banking on federal hand-outs while handing out big bonus checks to themselves. Car company execs are cooling their corporate jets just long enough to line up for a piece of the pie. Even the governor of Illinois tried to raise some cash by cashing in on a Senate seat! Add a few Ponzi schemes, a record stimulus package being bandied about by Congress, and a host of retail closings, and you have the makings of, well, a Manic Depression!
Join the Chicago City Limits cast of seasoned Improv artists, Joe DeGise II, Annie Schiffmann, Stefan Schick, and Rob Schiffmann for a night of manic fun as they take on the big one – the economy. Musical Director Rick Hip Flores is on keyboard. The show is directed by Joe DeGise II and Paul Zuckerman.
Chicago City Limits’ Manic Depression opens Fri. Feb, 6th, with shows Fri. at 8:00, and Sat. 8:00 & 10:00. Chicago City Limits Theater at the Broadway Comedy Club, 318 W. 53rd St. (bet 8th & 9th Aves.) $15 Cover + 2 bev. min.
