Chicago City Limits presents:
The 26th Annual New Year's Eve Gala
A CCL Tradition!
(Midtown, NYC) December, 10 2008: Ring in the Year at the Chicago City Limits NEW YEAR'S EVE GALA NYC’s longest running show takes aim at the faces, places and events of 2008 in this very special annual New Years Eve event. This is where the historical meets the hysterical as the CCL cast takes the audience on a free-for-all retrospective of the past year consisting of original, comedy skits, scenes, and songs, and audience-inspired improvisations.
For over 25 years, Chicago City Limits legendary NEW YEAR'S EVE GALA has celebrated the odd and extraordinary happenings of the past year. And what year 2008 was! There was an historical election, tumbling stock market, roller coaster gas prices, a governor who shot moose, a mayor who doesn’t want to go away, that pesky war, a man who gave birth, and the year isn’t over yet!
There’s “Your Son Will Come Out, Tomorrow,” an ode to the voters of California who rejected Proposition 8; an update of the Annie Get Your Gun classic “You Can Shoot Your Leg with a Gun” celebrating a local gridiron hero; “Shop Around the Clock,” CCL’s take on Black Friday, a holiday message to the incoming administration “It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Clinton”; and lots more!
CCL’s New Years cast of improvisers Joe DeGise, Annie Schiffmann, Linda Gelman, Rob Schiffmann, and Paul Zuckerman are sure to provide a uniquely comic overview of yet another ridiculous year of history.
